Women who do cross border business in Kamembe town in Rusizi District and Bukavu town in Congo have formed a forum to help solve problems they face in business.
Six cooperatives for business women in Kamembe town, four women’s cooperatives in Mururu sector in Rwanda and seven women’s cooperatives in Bukavu town have met into a forum.
Sharife Uzamukunda, president of the forum explains that business women the major problem they had was theft whereby they could lose to the frauds.
Through a cooperatives forum, business women will be able to exchange goods since they will have build trust, she adds.
Elise Mushagaruza Njirandi, worker at DIOBASS (a non-governmental organization) in Bukavu town helped women to form associations, an act that has improved business environment for women.
Bahati Maimuna, a business woman that works at Nguba market in Bukavu town adds that forming a forum will help clear out challenges they have been facing in business environment.
Janvier Mushimiyimana, in charge of investment in Mururu sector explains that coming together is going to enable authorities into solving the problems business women meet.
Most of these women deal in food stuffs such as small fish, cassava flour, fish, tomatoes, Irish potatoes and others.
